Three actions to support the nursing profession
The nursing profession needs the attention of each nurse stay strong. Here are three things you can do now to support the nursing profession in your community.
Tell the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) that nursing IS a profession
Join ANA and WSNA to oppose the DOE’s effort to exclude nursing from “professional degree” programs. Exclusion by DOE would mean placing sharp limits on subsidized loans for nursing graduate students.
Lend your voice to urge the DOE to include nursing in its definition of professional degrees by signing this petition to be submitted to lawmakers and the DOE.
Join your colleagues in Olympia
Make plans to join nurses from around the state for WSNA Lobby Day on January 29, 2026. This is a unique opportunity to learn more about the legislative priorities for the profession and meet your legislators to let them know the importance of the work you do.

Strengthen your local association
Volunteers ensure that NWRNA continues to provide funds for members and conducts educational events. For just a few hours a year, you can help to:
- Plan virtual educational offerings
- Guide our scholarship program, providing assistance to members going back to school
- Provide leadership for the association
- Help with our financial assistance programs, providing money to members to enhance their skills
